Call for
Symposia
The theme for the 29th annual SWS meeting, Capitalizing
on Wetlands, highlights the need for meshing the breadth
of wetland science, encompassing biogeography, conservation,
ecology, hydrology, nutrient cycling and contamination, and
wildlife biology, with economics, public policy, and
education. Wetland functions and values confer upon them
capital. Understanding and communicating the nature of this
capital will be critical in making decisions at local to
global levels regarding the management, protection, and fate
of the world’s wetlands.
With theme of Capitalizing on Wetlands in mind, we
open a call for symposia for the 2008 meeting. We seek
proposals for half-day symposia structured around seven 30
minute time slots, which could be used for oral
presentations, panel discussions, and/or open discussion.
Symposium proposals should include:
1. Name, affiliation, and contact information for symposium
organizer(s)
2. Proposed title of the symposium
3. Brief (300 word) synopsis of the symposium focus and
goals
4. List of speakers (name, affiliation, and contact
information) and titles of presentations, with an indication
of whether the speaker’s commitment has been confirmed
5. Special needs
Please email symposium proposals to the conference
